A downloadable game for Windows, macOS, and Linux

Sam, your uncle, has invited you, your mother, and the Sullivans to dinner at a fancy restaurant.

Relive the unparalleled joy of a fancy restaurant meal in this, the year of Covid.

Tall Bagel was created by Laura Michet and Brendon Chung for the 7 Day FPS Jam 2020.

Note: Tall Bagel is moddable! There's a readme.txt that explains how to change the game's art and scripting.

Thanks for downloading Tall Bagel!

Platform notes

We developed this game on Windows and we're crossing our fingers that the Mac and Linux builds run well. Unfortunately, we're unable to test or further support our Mac or Linux builds after release.

Resolution notes

If you are having screen resolution problems, you can manually change your video settings. Go to your Tall Bagel folder and open this file with a text editor like Notepad:

tallbagel/base/settings.json

thank you for playing!! we're so glad you enjoyed it!

how do i actually play it though ;-;

are you getting a bug?

well when i extracted the files i didn't know what to do from there

(+1)

If you are on windows, then click on tallbagel.exe and run that file. Like many games on itch, the game is an executable.

Indeed :)

I clicked immediately upon the game starting and had to stop playing because I was laughing so hard, and then I got back into the game and right-clicked and had to pause it again.

I would do just about anything for a Big Tortellini right now.

i eata da bagle

Fun little game to play and record. Had a good time.

It's pretty well made. Good stuff, devs!

Please check out the video and my channel: VladMan.

Thank you!

Sadly I get no text in the menu or dialog bubbles on Ubuntu 20.04. I had a look at settings.json but didn't spot anything relevant. Great concept though!

Glad you enjoyed it, thank you!

Authentic fusion restaurant experience with people you were pressured into socializing with because your parents/in-laws/boss know them. Well done, very funny.

(+5)

perfectly distills the experience of awkward messy people trying in vain to put on appearances for folks the world calls "successful and well-adjusted"

(also congratulations!)

the resolution of my game was fucked up?

(+1)

Head to the file tallbagel/base/settings.json -- adjust the resolution there and you should be able to make it fit your screen. If the menu buttons are visible on the game start screen you can also navigate to the settings file there.

i found the file, it is un-editable

It's a JSON file, so you'll have to open it in a text editor specifically. If you're on windows, right-click it, choose "open with," and select a text editor like Notepad. (Notepad is better than Microsoft Word here.) Once you get in there, you'll see some lines that look like this:

"screenwidth": 1920,
"screenheight": 1080,

Change those numbers to the resolution you'd like the game to be. Then save the file. Make sure to retain its .json suffix.

This whole game reminds me of the jar jar binks scene on tatoonie. But this time I'm jar jar binks... This is a horror game. D:

But honestly: Very good execution and nice idea!

Hi. I am playing on a windows PC. When I play, the left half is cut off. Please help

Same issue here :')

Hey folks, head to the file tallbagel/base/settings.json and adjust the resolution there and you should be able to make it fit your screen. If the menu buttons are visible on the game start screen you can also navigate to the settings file there.

Thank you!

Yeah...I changed it to my resolution and the title page is gone now. I just see the background. I have a UHD computer.

A wonderful conversation with a quintet of colourful, unique characters. These people have lots to say about the most relevant and poignant topics of our time. No politics, though!

Surely this game will become a hidden gem in narrative through gameplay, with great potential for genres like drama, comedy, and comedy-drama!

To an uneventful 2021!

It wasn't. :(

Gives me error on Linux: "Bad script call: spawn waterglass 31.3 - 40 33.7"

I get this too, in Win 10.

Hi Oreolek & Henke -- we just uploaded a fix that should resolve those crashes. The new build is now live.
